Carrying my memory on my back,
watercolor based mixed media (2000)

My artist's life covers seven decades until the present, considering that my first artistic expressions go back to the early 40's, and they coincide with my reading an writing learning (with my grandfather José Girón Soto and my mother Carmen Girón Olavarría, respectively). Possibly, from that simultaneity of knowledge acquisition and natural creative talents, comes out my tendency to combine image and word in the same pictorial space, which is present through all my artistic life.
In this Life and Work Archives I will try to offer a panoramic view of works saved from time's shipwrecking, in which I practiced several techniques and styles of visual arts such as collages, caricatures and cartoons. I include some important photographic documents, and the very few remaining samples of the work of my father Luis Castellano Veas as a watercolor painter and drawer, from whom not only I inherited his artistic skills, but he was able to teach me the secrets of drawing and watercolor painting like nobody else could.
